This illustration was the solution to creating successful imagery that describes the 5% of the human population that lacks the empathy chemical, oxytocin. Sociopaths lack this chemical that allows them to connect with other people on an emotional level. I strived to keep this as far from cheesy as possible and as far from the serial killer characters as possible, too. Usually when we sense something is slightly off about someone, it isn’t blaring or that obvious. I used the lack of one figure’s shadow to show there lack of an emotional presence by the lack of a physical one.
This digital illustration was for my narrative illustration course. It is a redesign for the book” “A Long Way Home,” the true story about Saroo Brierly. The book was made into the movie, “Lion.” Saroo’s story moved me an incredible amount, so it was a no brainer to pick this book.
